Palliative Care Companion is a free program designed to support those with a life-limiting illness.

Respite and Compassion provided by trained volunteers to people living with a life-limiting illness in the home, hospital or any facility chosen by the client.  As part of our end-of- life compassionate care program, volunteers can:

  • Listen with out judgement and help reduce fear and anxiety.
  • Provide an opportunity to talk about "what matters", life's journey, to reminisce.
  • Provide emotional support to the ill, the bereaved and to caregivers.
  • Offer practical assistance, e.g. reading, writing letters, running errands, outings. etc. 
  • Offer companionship/provide helpful information related to end of life care, dying and bereavement. 
  • Sit vigil at the bedside of a loved one at the end of life.
  • Offer respite for family caregivers.
